Van J. Konrad is the founder and CEO of MBA Associates, a business improvement corporation serving clients throughout western Canada. The Edmonton-based company specializes in business analysis, management consulting, coaching and mentoring, and business valuations & succession planning for small and medium-sized businesses.
Van has worked as a business analyst and management consultant for major corporations in all industries and the federal government since 1992, following two decades of operating a very profitable project management and custom building company, Eastlake Builders & Consulting Ltd. An expert in management & business systems, Van has managed large-budget projects for corporate and government clients and assisted numerous smaller businesses to dramatically increase operational efficiency and company profits. Van is also a technical instructor for educational extension programs and regular presenter of business seminars.
In 2001, Van took a hiatus from contract work to work as a senior business analyst for an American multinational corporation headquartered in Chicago focused on providing full-service management consulting. Van traveled throughout North America on the company’s behalf for two years, investigating businesses in a variety of industries to determine vital business improvement projects. In this tenure, he gained valuable knowledge of business practices and systems used by North America’s best-run companies.
Van holds two technical degrees, and a B.A. (with distinction) from the University of Alberta. He is recognized as a senior business leader in the Edmonton business community and by invitation volunteers as a mentor for the annual VenturePrize Business Plan Competition organized by Edmonton Economic Development Corporation.
Van lives near Sherwood Park in a rural setting. He is an outdoor enthusiast, an avid mountaineer and senior volunteer leader for the Alpine Club of Canada and an intrepid backcountry skier.
